For Oktoberfest and Hispanic Heritage Month

Before our summer is undressed

Comes Colorado’s Oktoberfest

As we drink to winter’s dawn

And dance to yellow aspens’ yawn

Beer and schnitzel are the best

In our hills’ Oktoberfest

Sudsy brews in twilight’s gloaming

Like winter’s foam up in Wyoming

German brewers crossed the foam

And made old Mexico their home

Pacífico and Dos Equis grew

Where German craft met something new

Modelo lifts its stein in cheer

Corona joins the party here

With Hispanic soul and German art

There’s plenty brewing, heart to heart

Men in lederhosen dressed

Revive the old Oktoberfest

Brass bands belt their happy tune

As summer leaves us all too soon

German settlers brought along

A squeezebox full of dance and song

In Mexico, new roots took hold

And new tunes bloomed from bellows old

Norteño joins our merry song

And bids the whole hill dance along

With “¡Salud!” and “Prost!” we cheer

The many roots that brought us here

Before our summer is undressed

We celebrate Oktoberfest

We eat and drink till comes the dawn

Autumn leaves and summer’s gone
