Welcome to my Poetry Collection

Yes, I have dabbled in waxing poetical.  Poetry is the only thing I write just to please myself. I don't get too analytical or self-indulgent about it, which, I suppose is one of the drawbacks of not having a feminine side. In any case, I'll drop a few of my favorites here in hopes someone other than myself likes them. I have divided my selection into the categories below:

1. Poems about our heroes. From the American Revolution until today, our brave and dedicated Armed Forces have stepped up and served their country well.

2. Colorado Seasonal Poetry. Although Autumn here in the mountains is my favorite time of year, Spring and Summer aren't far behind.

3. Poetry About Sports. As ABC sports announcer Jim McCay used to say sports is about, "the thrill of victory... and the agony of defeat... the human drama of athletic competition." I tried to capture that in my poetry.

4. Love Poems. These speak for themselves. Ex-sailors, like myself, will like "A May September Romance."

5. Miscellaneous Poems. A hodgepodge of poems that include a gag about a multilingual parrot and how inspiration can take a poem in the pocket to a soaring rocket.

Next up: Poems About Our Heroes
